Hope you do get into fly fishing. If you do, you better be ready to become addicted!! It's a fun and enjoyable sport to learn. Very rewarding...

The fish on the Davidson are not your typical trout. I watched one 18-19" rainbow chase my streamer, stop, pursue it again, finally giving up as if to say "c'mon... that thing ain't real". Sorry to hear of the skunk, it happens to us all. That chase and turn you spoke of is similar to the mock hitting I mentioned to you. I did manage to catch a few on streamers the other day though. I was using an old trick from my home stealhead waters of western NY. I had one rainbow hit so hard that it pulled the line out of my line hand and through the fingers on my rod hand. If you'd like Ill email you the tip so you can see if it works for you as well.

Heading up on Friday, may try the Mitchell. A guide I know has some flies he wants me to try.

But a bad day fishing is a lot like a bad day hunting; who really cares so long as your out in the woods, right? I have almost all the gear to start fly fishing, I just need to "do it" as they say. been wanting to do it for ages, and even if I dont get anything, I may try to go up in a few weeks to Pisgah, set up camp and see what happens, just for the heck of it.
